Birds
Migratory birds listed in the Migratory Bird Treaty Act are protected and are subject to the regulations of the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 50 - Wildlife and Fisheries. A depredation permit is required in most instances to control migratory birds that are causing, or there exists the potential to cause, serious damage to agricultural crops or other interests. To control means to kill, or cause to be killed, or trap depredating migratory birds.
The Fresno County Agricultural Commissioner’s office issues Migratory Bird Control permits for the following species:
- Horned Lark
- House Finch (Linnets)
- Golden-crowned Sparrow
- White-crowned Sparrow
