The Fresno County Probation Department implemented Assembly Bill (AB) 109, the Public Safety Realignment Act, with a balanced approach of reentry support services, accountability, and community safety.  AB 109 legislation transferred the supervision responsibility of some specified state prisoners, upon their release, to local county probation departments.

In line with evidence-based practices, Pretrial units assist the Judicial Officers in making fair, prompt, and effective release decisions that impose the least restrictive conditions to ensure pretrial defendants appear for scheduled court appearances while maintaining community safety.  This includes appropriate monitoring practices and providing services for defendants released from jail.
