Renters whose homes are in disrepair should contact their landlords in writing. Landlords are required to keep their properties in a safe, habitable condition and to comply with local building codes. The Environmental Health Division is responsible for the enforcement of Title 15, Chapter 15.32 of the Fresno County Ordinance Code. Some violations and non-conforming conditions may require permits from the Fresno County Department of Public Works and Planning and/or the State of California Housing and Community Development Department, Codes and Standards Division.
