Avocado Lake Park

 

County of Fresno wishes to remind residents and park patrons that swimming in the river is not recommended while water releases are occurring. The water flows are much higher and result in faster currents. Turn Around, Don't Drown!

Avocado Lake Park is a 210 acre day use park providing recreation that includes swimming, fishing and picnicking. The park has picnic tables, a group picnic area, BBQs, Earth Boat launching ramp and a playground.

Park Hours

Summer Hours: April 1st - September 30th from 7 AM to 10 PM
Winter Hours: October 1st - March 31st from 7 AM to 7 PM

Vehicle Entrance Fees

Entrance fees at all developed Parks is $5 per vehicle.

Annual passes are available for $40 per year and can be purchased at Fresno County Resources Division: 2220 Tulare Street, 6th Floor, Fresno, CA 93721. Telephone (559) 600-3004

Reservations and Rates

Reservations can be made for the Ernest Lawrence Pavilion. Picnic tables and BBQs are also available on a first come, first serve basis. Please call Parks at (559) 600-3004 for more information.

Location

Directions: Avocado Lake Park is located 23 miles east of Fresno via Highway 180 and Piedra Road. From downtown Fresno drive east on Highway 180 (Ventura Street) 17.5 miles and turn left of Piedra Road. Drive another 5.1 miles on Piedra Road to the entrance of Avocado Lake which is on the left.

History

Avocado Lake Park was established in 1957 when Fresno County signed a lease with the Wildlife Conservation Board.
