Large Animal Shelter at Fresno Fairgrounds

The Fresno Fairgrounds is open to sheltering large livestock animals for residents that are being impacted by the recent storms. 

If you are interested in sheltering your animals, please enter through Gate 10 at the Fresno Fairgrounds.

If you would like to remain onsite at the Fresno Fairgrounds with your livestock, there are a limited number of sheltering trailers available for livestock owners. To qualify to stay in a sheltering trailer at the Fresno Fairgrounds, you must be sheltering your livestock animals on site.  You must check in between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Please note that outside RVs or trailers will NOT be allowed into the fairgrounds for sheltering purposes.

Location: Gate 10 on S Maple Avenue just south of E. Butler Avenue at the Fresno Fairgrounds (Horse Stables)

Hours Open: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm arrive at Gate 10 for assistance

From 5:00 pm to 8:00 am, please contact the 24 hour Fresno Fair line at 559-994-3108 for assistance.

Small Animal Shelter

Location: Sanger Community Center, 730 Recreation Ave, Sanger

Hours Open:  8:00 am to 8:00 pm

After 8:00 pm, please text to 866-333-3822 for assistance

  • County residents are asked to bring only essentials such as medication, clothes, and toiletries. Pets that can be kenneled are allowed. The shelter is ADA-compliant and will have restrooms and showers.  The Red Cross is providing cots, blankets, pillows, and a few meals.  The shelter will remain open until evacuation orders and warnings have been lifted.
