THE FRESNO COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES WARNS ABOUT PHISHING SCAM ATTEMPTS

The Fresno County Department of Social Services (DSS) is warning the community about fraudulent "Notice of Action" letters going out in the mail. This notice will have a phone number listed that, if called, will connect them to a scammer.

The scammer will notify the caller they’ve won a prize, like a gift card or a free medical device. However, to claim the prize, the scammer will ask for personal information like Social Security numbers, bank account, or credit card details.

DSS urges clients to be aware of this phishing scam attempt targeting individuals who receive benefits. Currently, fraudulent efforts appear to target clients over 55; however, everyone is cautioned to remain vigilant.

Fresno County DSS emphasizes it will never ask residents for their credit card information or PIN. By being aware of these scams and following the tips below, residents can help keep their personal information safe.
