Who can file an Assessment Appeal Application?

Applications may be filed by the property owner, their spouse, parent, or child, or anyone affected by the assessment in accordance with Property Tax Rule 305.

An Authorized Agent or California-licensed Attorney can file an appeal on the applicant’s behalf or represent the applicant in the appeals process. An Authorized Agent is not required to file an appeal, but if using one, they must meet certain requirements. An authorized representative may be changed or removed at any time prior to a hearing.

When is the deadline to file an appeal?

The deadline to file an appeal depends on the type of assessment being appealed.

How can an appeal be filed?

  1. Complete an Assessment Appeal Application.
    Only hard copies are accepted and must include an original wet signature.
  2. Include the $86.00 non-refundable fee per application.
    Only cash, checks, or money orders payable to the County of Fresno are accepted.
  3. If necessary, attach an agent authorization and/or a copy of your Notice of Assessment from the Assessor.
  4. Submit your completed appeal application, processing fee, and required attachments in person or by mail to:

Please Note:

  • Appeal Applications are not accepted via e-mail or fax.
  • Appeal Applications submitted in person must be received by 5:00 P.M. on the day of the deadline.
  • Appeal Applications submitted via mail must be postmarked no later than the day of the deadline.
