2017 HIGH SCHOOL VOTER EDUCATION WEEKS

In celebration of High School Voter Education Weeks, the Fresno County Elections department is happy to participate in activities surrounding these important weeks with the following:

  • 2nd Annual Youth Government Forum – sponsored by the Republican Women’s Group, and held in the early spring approximately 50 students from Fresno County participate in an presentation given by Brandi Orth, County Clerk/Registrar of Voters on why it is important to vote and also hold a mock election.
  • Voter Pre-Registration of 16 and 17 year olds – eligible students can pre-register to vote by completing a voter registration card and mailing it to the Fresno County Elections office or by registering online at the Secretary of State’s website at www.sos.ca.gov/elections/voter-registration. Individuals completing a pre-registration card automatically become registered to vote on their 18th birthday.
  • High School Poll Worker Program – open to juniors and seniors can earn $150.00 working on Election Day. Student poll workers help staff at the polling places throughout Fresno County.
  • County Clerk Brandi Orth stated “encouraging the youth in Fresno County in an environment that encourages civic duties such as holding a voter registration drive, voting in a student body election, and casting a ballot in future elections is exciting.”
