Assessor-Recorder's Office is Now Open to Public

Assessor-Recorder's office is open to the public by following national and local social distancing guidelines.

"For over a year we provided services to our community by alternative methods for obtaining copies of vital records or recording documents to ensure the health and safety of the public and employees," says Paul Dictos, Assessor-Recorder. "As we continue to adapt to the new normal, we are offerring in-person services in Assessor-Recorder's office."

As a reminder all of the following types of services will continue to be available to the public who prefer to conduct services remotely:

  • Real Estate - Electronic recording through title companies remains unchanged. Documents sent through the mail will be processed as usual. There is a drop box located inside of the Hall of Records at 2281 Tulare Street, Fresno, CA 93721 to drop off real estate recordings. Customers can call (559) 600-3471 for questions regarding recorded documents.
  • Birth, Death, and Marriage Records Requests - Requests for vital records (birth, death, and marriage records) submitted online through the Vitalchek service, as well as requests through the mail will continue to be processed as usual. Completed requests will be returned through the US mail. Customers can visit https://www.co.fresno.ca.us/departments/recorder/how-to-get-copies for requesting records or call (559) 600-3476 for questions regarding vital records.
  • Official Record Purchases – Requests submitted through the mail to purchase copies of copies of records will be processed as usual. This includes coopes of recorded documents, birth, death, and marriage records, and maps. Completed requests will be returned through the US mail.
