The following list is comprised of paraphrased Requests for Clarification (RFC) submitted by potential bidders or sub-bidders in writing via email, letter, and the Request for Clarification Form (archived). 

These paraphrased questions and associated responses are not part of the contract documents and shall have no bearing whatsoever on the interpretation of the Standard Specifications, the Standard Plans, the Special Provisions, or the Plans. Nor shall they have any bearing whatsoever on the interpretation of other publications referenced therein.

Questions without answers may be posted here to indicate that we have received them before the deadline and we intend to respond.

Will a leveling course be required prior to paving the Overlay areas? (RFC 2323-1 submitted 2/8/2024)

No. Response date: 2/14/2024

 

Specification No. Bid Item #11 - GPR
Aside from what Underground Service Alert will locate, what is the intent for GPR Services? (RFC 2323-2 submitted 2/12/2024)

If the contractor elects to pave the minor HMA (misc areas, shown on sheet 23) with the paving machine concurrently with the mainline paving operations, is the County going to pay these areas under bid items 26 & 27 or is the County going to pay for this work under bid item 25? (RFC 2323-3 submitted 2/14/2024)

See Addendum #1. Wing out will be paid as part of the HMA bid item #25 HOT MIX ASPHALT (TYPE A 3/4" GRADING) as it will be most likely constructed with the paving machine concurrently with the mainline paving operations. Response date:02/16/2024

 

Per plan sheet 23, the wing-outs are to paid under the HMA bid item, but what about the areas beyond the wing-outs, will these areas be paid under the minor HMA items no matter how the HMA is placed even if it is concurrent with mainline paving operations? (RFC 2323-4 submitted 2/14/2024)

Yes. All areas requiring more than 2’ wide strip of pavement is considered Misc Areas and will be paid under bid item 26 MINOR HOT MIX ASPHALT (FOR DIKES AND MISC. AREAS) and 27 PLACE MINOR HMA (MISCELLANEOUS AREAS) Response date: 02/16/2024

 

It is our understanding that there will be no cost associated with the required PG&E stand-by staff, can you please confirm this is the case? (RFC 2323-5 submitted 2/14/2024)

PG&E will provide stand-by staff at no cost to the County or Contractor. Response date: 02/16/2024
