Fancher Creek Bridle Path

IMG_5136.JPG

The Fancher Creek Bridle Path project made improvements to the existing 1.3 mile long trail located within a County Island in the Sunnyside neighborhood of the City of Fresno. The thirty-foot wide path runs along the east side of the Fancher Creek Canal for .8 miles from Kings Canyon Road to the Southern Pacific Railroad, then turns east for .5 miles and ends at Clovis Avenue (see map below). The project reclaimed and rehabilitated the existing path that had fallen into disrepair and became overgrown with weeds and trees, rendering the path unusable to pedestrians and the equestrian community.

The project constructed a 10-foot wide equestrian/pedestrian trail of stabilized decomposed granite over compacted native soil for a distance of approximately 1.12 miles. The trail begins on the south side of Kings Canyon Road west of Clovis Avenue next to the Fancher Creek Canal and proceeds south to cross Butler Avenue, ultimately ending at Clovis Avenue just north of the railroad tracks.  The project also included construction of a 5-stall asphalt concrete parking/trailhead area (which included one ADA-compliant parking stall), a hitching post, removable bollards, and a crosswalk at Butler Avenue.

Construction on the project was completed in May of 2022 at a final cost of $447,657.
