The Lost Lake Nature Trail is located within Lost Lake Park, near the town of Friant, on the southeast side of the San Joaquin River approximately 2.6 miles downstream of Friant Dam.  There was an old, unofficial trail that was previously used that was made up of various, un-delineated, worn-in walking paths which had been formed over years of use; however, the old pathways were not well defined and presented accessibility challenges.

Construction of the project delivered upgrades to approximately 3,100 feet of the trail.  The improvements included minor grading, improving delineation of the trail, lining the trail with decomposed granite for surface durability, and the improvement of a portion of the trail to ensure Americans with Disabilities Act compliance.   ADA Accessibility was provided as part of the project between the trailhead parking area and an existing covered picnic area that is sometimes utilized as a classroom, approximately 120 feet from the parking area.

The Project was funded using Fresno County Measure "C" Sales Tax Transportation Funding.

Construction on the project was completed in October of 2020 at a final cost of $189,918.
