Are AutoCad files and/or cross sections available? (RFC 2408-5 submitted 2/11/2025)

The project, as stated in the Notice to Bidders, is to replace the existing bridge as shown on the construction plans and specifications. Response date: 02/27/2025

 


Where i can find the bid documents for this project? I checked Bid Express and this project is not listed there. (RFC 2408-9 submitted 2/12/2025)

When will a link for the plans and specs be released? (RFC 2408-11 submitted 2/18/2025)

Plans and Specifications were posted to the project website on 2/25/2025. Response date: 02/26/2025

 


A pre-bid is scheduled for Wednesday, February 26, 2025. Currently, bid documents are not yet available. Please reschedule the pre-bid to a date after which bid documents are available and potential bidders have had time to review the documents to determine interest. This affects the date for receipt of bids as well. (RFC 2408-12 submitted 2/19/2025)

Plans and Specifications have been posted to the project website. The non-mandatory pre-bid meeting was held on 02/26/2025 as scheduled, and mainly covered bidding logistics, the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise and “Good Faith Effort” Caltrans requirements, and how to submit a bid electronically. Project specific technical information was not covered at the pre-bid meeting and for project specific questions, you are invited to continue to submit questions in writing using the online RFC form. Please clarify the requirements needed if we provide an electronic bid bond. In the past, I have entered our electronic bid bond information and then verify the bond within Bidexpress, which I plan to do for this job. Will I have to scan and include a file of a physical bid bond form in addition to the electronic bid bond verification? (RFC 2408-13 submitted 2/26/2025)

No, to submit an electronic bid bond, you may either: 1) use the electronic bid bond verification through Tinubu or Surety2000 in Bid Express; or 2) scan and attach a physical bid bond, providing the original hardcopy within 5 days. Response date: 02/26/2025

 


The description of the work mentions "pre-cast, pre-stressed concrete voided slabs which will be supported by outrigger piers, pier caps... and finishing the bridge deck with polyester concrete overlay". The project would be more accurately described as a Cast-In-Place/Prestressed Slab Bridge. Revising the description may save some subcontractors the effort of investigating a project that does not require type of work. (RFC 2408-14 submitted 2/26/2025)

The description has been updated, replacing "pre-cast, pre-stressed concrete voided slabs" with "Cast-In-Place, Pre-Stressed concrete slabs." See Addendum 2. Response date: 02/27/2025

According to plan sheet 21 of 47, Note 2 states RSP in areas 1 & 3 are to be determined by the engineer; for area 2, Note 3 states placement of RSP is to be 3' below OG. The information given is too vague to accurately estimate this scope of work. Please provide additional details including typical sections and a summary of quantities by area for this work. (RFC 2408-15 submitted 3/4/2025)

We do not believe cross sections are necessary in order for the contractor to bid them. The quantity of ½ T RSP in areas 1, 2 and 3 is given on sheet 30 (Q-1) in the Roadway Quantities table, the row titled ALL with the comment “Contour Grading.” Q = 1052.1 CY. This assumes the entirety of areas 1, 2 and 3 will need RSP replacement with ½ T RSP to a depth of 3 ft. As note 2 states, the engineer during construction may determine that some areas of 1 and 3 do not need replacement. The quantity of ½ T RSP in area 1 is approximately 740 CY. The average width of area 1 is about 15 ft. The quantity of ½ T RSP in area 2 is approximately 243 CY. The average width of area 2 is about 11 ft. The quantity of ½ T RSP in area 3 is approximately 69 CY. The average width of area 3 is about 12 ft. For all three areas, finished grade will match OG. Response date: 03/14/2025

Please provide angles from LH line to center of footings in the ""Footing Plan"" detail for abutments 1 and 4. (RFC 2408-16 submitted 3/6/2025)

The skew angles for each bent and abutment are provided on the GP sheet (31 of 47), in the lower right-hand corner. This skew applies to the entire bent/abutment. Response date: 03/14/2025

 


The cross sections provided on 2-25-25 appear to be for Jacalitos Creek Rd. Please provide cross sections for Lost Hills Road and the Temporary Bypass. (RFC 2408-17 , 2408-18, 2408-19 submitted 3/18/2025)

Cross Sections of Lost Hills Road and the Temporary Detour were posted to the project website on 3/20/2025. Response date: 03/20/2025

 

Please confirm that the detour removal excavation as noted on Sheet 24 is included in the contour grading quantities. Detour removal is not shown anywhere else in the summary of quantities. (RFC 2408-20 submitted 3/20/2025)

The removal of the temporary detour is included in roadway excavation quantities. On the summary of quantities sheet, it is included in the roadway excavation amount shown on the line TD 30+00.00 to 41+30.33. Response date: 03/21/2025
