Jacalitos Creek Bridge Replacement on Lost Hills Road
The Jacalitos Creek Bridge on Lost Hills Road (Bridge No. 42C0078) is a three-span timber stringer bridge with cast-in-place reinforced concrete slabs and two-spans of reinforced concrete slabs. The bridge is located approximately 3 miles southeast of the City of Coalinga and approximately 2.5 miles west of SR 33. The proposed replacement bridge will be a precast prestressed concrete voided slab bridge. The existing bridge ADT is 600 (2010 survey), and accommodates public traffic as well as providing for public access over the Jacalitos Creek.
The original bridge was constructed in 1940 and reinforced in 1962. The most recent survey in 2021 showed that the bridge does not meet currently acceptable safety standards and must be replaced.to improve public safety and update the deck geometry to minimum requirements of current AASHTO standards. The proposed structure will satisfy the current deck geometry standards and provide for approved bridge railing and approach guard railing.
Construction on the replacement bridge is expected to start in 2025 at a cost of approximately $5 million.
