SolarAPP+ Permits

The County of Fresno is working with the U.S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) to make applying for roof-mounted solar systems easier and faster through SolarAPP+. It is a web-based platform that automates solar permitting for local governments and eliminates the need for a plan review check by permitting staff.

Contractors will be able to register as an installer on SolarAPP+ and submit their application. They will then be provided a SolarAPP+ confirmation information with an ID number that will then be used on the County's permitting system located here: https://www.fresnocountyca.gov/Departments/Public-Works-and-Planning/citizens-portal

*County of Fresno provides the building permit. SolarAPP+ confirmation information is not considered a building permit.

This process is only for applications that have been approved through SolarAPP+. All other applications must go through the "Solar Installation without SolarAPP+" Sub Type when applying.

Battery installation only, EV charger installation only, and main panel upgrade only applications must be submitted as a construction permit, not a solar permit.
