Can we bid on this project as a Gen B contractor? (RFC 2504-3 & RFC 2504-17 submitted 06/06/2025 & 6/23/2025)
No. Only Class A contractors can bid this project. Response date: 06/12/2025
Would the County consider a substitution request (attached)(PDF, 4KB) for a Plexipave surface coating system and line marking for the tennis, pickleball and basketball courts? (RFC 2504-4 submitted 06/09/2025)
The proposed substitution has been reviewed and it is the determination of the County that Plexipave surfacing product is considered equal to the specified product. As long as the Plexipave vendor provides that the same warranty will be furnished for the proposed substitution for the specified product, i.e. the same maintenance service and source of replacement parts, as applicable, is available; the product will have no adverse effect on other trades; will not affect or delay the progress schedule; and the product will not affect dimensions and functional clearances.
Furthermore, if the Plexipave surfacing product is used, the contractor is required to follow the (attached)(PDF, 689KB) installation requirements from the manufacturer for the installation on new asphalt concrete. Response date: 06/18/2025
This project requires the General Contractor to hold a 10 Million Dollar Umbrella Policy. Will the county entertain a lower Umbrella threshold, or will this requirement stand for all bidding General Contractors? (RFC 2504-5 submitted 6/11/2025)
The County will not lower the umbrella or excess liability insurance limit for this project and insurance in the amounts listed will be required in order to execute the awarded contract. Response date: 06/18/2025
Please provide more details i.e. manufacturer, model numbers, plans, guides, installation instructions, etc. for all owner supplied equipment/materials including the shade structure, play equipment, restroom building, etc. (RFC 2504-6 & 2504-8 submitted 6/16/2025 & 06/17/2025)

Preliminary drawings are for bidding purposes only and are uploaded under Supplemental Information and shall not be used for permit or construction purposes. A final set of stamped plans, specifically for the restroom and shelter being fabricated for this project, will be provided to the contractor at a later date. Assembly drawings for the 3 playground structures including playground signage are also provided as Supplemental Information. Foundations for the playground structures are also being engineered and will be provided at a later date. Response date: 06/24/2025

No QC by the contractor is necessary for this project. The County Lab will perform the acceptance testing. Response date: 06/23/2025
Will there be phasing to keep the park open? (RFC 2504-10 submitted 6/23/2025)
Contractor will be allowed to close only the sections of the park where they are actively working. The rest of the park will remain operational and Contractor will be required to provide necessary measures for the safety of the workers and the general public visiting the park. Furthermore, Contractor shall always allow access to the areas open to the public. Response date: 06/24/2025
Have the county-furnished items been ordered and should we delay until all county-furnished items show up? (RFC 2504-11 submitted 6/23/2025)

Does this project require temporary fencing? (RFC 2504-12 submitted 6/23/2025)
Yes. Refer to Section 01 50 00. In general County will require playground areas to be fenced per section 13 01 00, Part 3, paragraph 3.4 . Fence will be required to enclose new shelter and restroom areas. Areas where only flatwork is performed i.e. walkways, parking lot contractor can provide means and methods to avoid vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Response date: 06/24/2025
Do we know the volume of existing rock wall footing? For hauling away. (RFC 2504-13 submitted 6/23/2025)
The project's intent is to partially repair or replace the full height of the existing Rock wall. The existing foundation is to remain and keep in place. Response date: 06/24/2025
Where are the locations for irrigation and utilities? (RFC 2504-14 submitted 6/23/2025)
Sheet #8 Partial Site Utility Plans show an approximate location of the existing water and underground electrical utilities based on information available . Contractor shall pothole and investigate prior to performing activities in these sites. Irrigation pipes exist in landscape areas and planters and may be intercepted during construction. See Section 34 00 00 Bid Item Descriptions Item #10 and # 42. Response date: 06/24/2025
How does the County want to replace the sod? Use seeding or a type of grass? (RFC 2504-15 submitted 6/23/2025)
Backfill Trench at landscape areas with native backfill material per Detail B on Sheet 42. Reseeding or replacing with grass is not required. County stall will reseed. However, Contractor will be required to avoid soil/grass disturbance outside the area of work. Should Contractor disturb grass area deemed by the Engineer outside the area of work, Contractor will be required to reseed such areas. Response date: 06/24/2025

Specification No. Caltans Specification Section 17
Revised special provisions, Section 17 provided in specifications states to "Cut tree branches that extend over the roadway and hang within 20 feet of finished grade and as directed by the engineer". Please clarify what, if any, trees need to be trimmed. There are a lot of trees and roadways within Kearney Park. (RFC 2504-18 submitted 6/23/2025)
Tree trimming will be performed by the County Park Maintenance crew. Tree trimming will only be performed in areas needed for the installation of equipment or Multipurpose court fence. Contractor will be required to coordinate the trimming extent. Removal of the tree in the planter area in Parking lot G is responsibility of the Contractor. Response date: 06/24/2025
