Project Overview
Fresno County is developing a Safe Streets For All Action Plan (SS4A) to outline data-driven strategies to reduce transportation-related fatalities and serious injuries across the county and participating cities. This initiative is being funded through the FY 2023 SS4A grant program from the US Department of Transportation. Improving transportation safety is a top priority for Fresno County and the SS4A Action Plan will:
- Analyze collision trends and contributing factors based on comprehensive collision data
- Identify collision profiles and location priorities for safety improvements
- Develop system-wide safety countermeasures and location-specific projects
- Establish performance measures to track and monitor progress toward reducing fatalities and serious injuries
The SS4A Action Plan covers the following areas:
Unincorporated Fresno County: All unincorporated areas within county boundaries
Participating Cities: Coalinga, Firebaugh, Kerman, Kingsburg, Mendota, Orange Cove, Reedley, and San Joaquin
The SS4A Action Plan will offer a combination of proactive and reactive approach for addressing safety concerns on all public roads in the County and participating cities. Recommendations will provide a framework for investing in safety projects through various funding sources, including the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) and other grant opportunities.
