Behavioral Health Compliance

Compliance is Up to All of Us

The Mental Health Compliance Office assists the department in complying with Medi-Cal and Medicare regulations that require mental health plans to have a compliance plan to guard against fraud and abuse. The office also ensures compliance with federal health care program requirements for mental health services. The Compliance Plan’s scope serves programs within the Behavioral Health System of Care.

The Compliance Office develops and implements policies, procedures, and practices to assist in these efforts. The responsibilities of the office include analyzing departmental risks, overseeing and monitoring compliance-related audits and investigations, and coordinating training and education.

The office investigates and resolves compliance issues while promoting awareness and understanding of the positive ethical and moral practices consistent with the department’s mission and those required by applicable laws, regulations, rules, and guidelines.
