Opioid Settlement Fund (OSF) Program

The State of California, local jurisdictions including Fresno County, and tribal governments have sued manufacturers, distributors, pharmacies, and other entities responsible for aiding the opioid epidemic.   As a result Fresno County has started to receive payments from settled lawsuits and bankruptcies and expects to continue to receive payments through 2038 for the purpose of abating and/or remediating the opioid epidemic in our county.  The Fresno County Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) has been designated as the administrative entity responsible for managing the Opioid Settlement Funds.

DBH has worked with a consultant to gather community input through surveys, key informant interviews, focus groups and community partner meetings to help inform a needs assessment and spending priorities specific to our community and local experience.  The needs assessment also draws from local, state and national data related to opioid use/abuse, overdose deaths, emergency department use and hospitalizations, and the demographics of our county.  DBH will continue to keep the community informed and involved related to OSF programming and spending decisions by continuing to receive community input through the work of an OSF Stakeholder Group and this web page.
