The Public Health Laboratory works in conjunction with:

- Public health programs (Epidemiology, Communicable Disease Investigation, and Environmental Health)
The Public Health Laboratory provides testing in areas of virology, bacteriology, and mycobacteriology. The Public Health Laboratory serves as a reference laboratory and offers expert advice regarding the identification of agents of infectious diseases to local physicians, local laboratories, and other health care professionals. We coordinate with federal and state agencies in detection of communicable diseases and/or biological threats.
The Fresno County Public Health Laboratory is a California State Department of Public Health registered and certified laboratory as well as a Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) federally certified laboratory.
